Paul B. Gorman, Jr.

Paul Berry Gorman, Jr., age 82, of Columbia, SC passed away peacefully on Thanksgiving Day, 2022. Paul was born on Christmas Eve, 1939 in Atlanta, GA. He attended Atlanta GA public schools graduating from Sylvan High School in 1959. Paul served in the National Guard, went to work in radio and television production, and in 1962 married Alice Jean Sartain, the love of his life. They were married for 60 years. After moving to Columbia, SC in 1974, Paul worked in Real Estate, Cable TV, was General Manager of Christian TV station Channel 57 in Columbia for many years, and then Lowe’s before retiring. He was an excellent provider for his family. His hobbies were camping with family, square dancing, toy trains, and studying the Bible. In the last 10 years of his life, Paul published over 400 topical bible studies at https://paulgorman.blogspot.com which will remain a lasting legacy for his children and children’s children. Paul loved the Lord Jesus Christ and led his family to do the same. Paul and Alice were members of Faith Presbyterian Church in Ballentine, SC, where he was affectionately referred to as “The Candy Man” because he always had a bag of candy for the children there. Paul is survived by three children, David (Becky) Gorman of Chapin, SC, Lisa (Jim) Cain of Chapin, SC, and Mike (Melanie) Gorman of Purcellville, Virginia; five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Jean Sartain Gorman; his parents, Paul B. Gorman, Sr., and Mary Helen Padgett Gorman, and a grandson, Justin A. Gorman. Visitation will be held at Temples Halloran Funeral Home on Saturday, December 3, 2022, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Following visitation, a celebration of life service will be held at Temples Halloran Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at 2:00 pm. Burial will be followed immediately afterward outside. Pallbearers are Randolph Fuller, David Hill, Jim Kostka, Craig Mandish, Bob Schoonover, and Brad Zamboni.
