IRMO—A graveside service for Patrick T. Allen, 87, of Irmo, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 31, 2015 in Bush River Memorial Gardens, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212. The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Monday, March 30, 2015 at Temples Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212. Mr. Allen beloved husband of Jo Anne Roller Allen passed away on Friday, March 27, 2015 due to complication from Parkinson Disease.Born in Dallas, Texas on February 13, 1928 he was the son of the late Paul S. Allen and Gladys Mae Fish Allen.After serving in the United States Air Force he retired as a Captain.In 1950 he graduated with a degree in Mathematics with a second major in Electrical Engineering from the University of Houston.He earned his professional Engineering License in 1962 from the State of Texas and pursued a lifelong career in Engineering.At the culmination of his career he became President and CEO of Central Electric Power in Columbia, SC.He served in this capacity for 20 years and retired in 1996.In 2000 he was appointed by the Governor and he proudly served on the Board of Santee Cooper for 7 years.He was also honored to serve on the South Carolina Power Team Committee as a Trustee for 6 years. His hobbies included Hamm Radio, Golf, Sailing, and Gardening.He enjoyed his golden years by spending time with his family. The beloved husband, father and grandfather is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jo Anne R. Allen; son, David P. Allen (Jackie); daughter, Amy A. Sawvell (Robert); 5 grandchildren, Scott P. Allen (Megan), Kelly A. Thurmond (Jon), Bailey P. Sawvell, EmilyE. Sawvell and Abigail C. Sawvell; 3 great-grandchildren, Ansley Thurmond, Hailey and Maggie Allen.
