Patricia M Reiland

August 22, 1940 — January 5, 2025

Patricia Mary Reiland (nee Schutzman), aged 84, of Irmo, SC, passed away on January 5, 2025.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Pat leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and service.

Born on August 22, 1940, in Pittsburgh, PA, she was one of thirteen children to the late John and Salomea Schutzman.

On April 28, 1962, Pat married Lynn Henry Reiland and for over 61 years they built a wonderful life together. In addition to raising her family, Pat worked part-time and enjoyed playing tennis and bridge regularly.  Pat dedicated her life to serving her community, the church, and her family. A long-time parishioner of Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church, she gave generously of her time, particularly in caring for the altar linens.  Pat also was a dedicated and compassionate caregiver for her husband, Lynn, as he battled multiple sclerosis and other ailments for several decades.

Pat's home was always a place of warmth, beautifully decorated to reflect the changing seasons, and her garden was a reflection of her love for nature. She found happiness in simple joys—reading, singing along to her favorite tunes, and card games.

Pat is survived by her sons, Paul Gregory Reiland (Tracye), Douglas Paul Reiland (Amy), and daughter, Kimberly Ann Yellman (Gregory), her eight grandchildren: Jonathan Morgan Reiland (Lindsey), Taylor Marie (Yellman) Mitchell (Connor), Douglas Williams Reiland, Alison Nicole Yellman, Brendan James Reiland, Emily Elizabeth Reiland, Jessica Anne Yellman, and Matthew Thomas Reiland; and her four great-grandchildren: Anna Sophia Reiland, Jackson Keller Mitchell,  Jeffrey Paul Reiland, and Palmer Keller Mitchell; her brothers, Bob Schutzman, Jim Schutzman, Tom (Pat) Schutzman, and sister, Helen (Al) Kaib.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lynn Henry Reiland, son, Jeffrey John Reiland, grandson, John Henry Reiland, parents, John and Salomea Schutzman, brothers, Joe Schutzman, Edward Schutzman, Fr. John Schutzman, Walter Schutzman, Barney Schutzman, and sisters, Florence Armstrong, Mary Ann Bastian, and Irene Perez.

Her love, faith, and dedication to family will always be remembered, and she will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.  May she rest in peace.
