Norma Jean Jones

April 11, 1947 — October 6, 2022

Norma Jean Jones, 75, of Lexington SC was completely healed and carried home by angels to be with her Heavenly Father on October 6, 2022. She was born on April 11, 1947, to the late Mitchell and Velma Esther Daugherty King in Strunk, Kentucky. Along with her parents, she was predeceased in this journey by an infant sister: Maxine King, along with sisters: Dean Lankford and Joyce Day. Norma loved God more than anyone or anything on this earth. She loved to praise God and tell people about His wonderful love. Her desire was to see all of her family and friends serving God so they will be with her for eternity in heaven. She wanted them to be dedicated in doing God’s work and following Him in all things. She was the best wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother that her husband and children could ask for. You could never ask for a truer woman of God who was also very humble and meek. She loved to work in her flower garden, go to thrift stores and do yard crafts. She was a homemaker, raising 4 children that love God and who follow Him daily. She would not take credit for their upbringing, but her children know that it was God, the Godly teaching, and the encouragement that their parents gave that pointed them in the right direction. She loved to spend time with her family, singing old songs - especially bluegrass gospel. She leaves a Godly legacy that is like no other and a road map to follow so we can be where she is. She will be missed greatly by her husband of 58 years, Rev. Hurstle B. Jones, who loved and took care of her in this journey of life. She stood by him while he served in the U.S. Army for 15 years while he served our country during the Vietnam War, and they moved to several different places throughout his service. Then she supported him and encouraged him when he joined the Army of God after he was called into ministry in 1981. She encouraged him to start a Facebook ministry so that he can teach others about God. She will be greatly missed by their 4 children whom she loved dearly. Her sons: Dan Jones and his wife Alice of Athens, WV, Gregg Jones and his wife Julie of Oneida, TN; daughters: Tammie Jones of Columbia, SC, and Christy Emmert and her husband Larry “Junior” of Lexington, SC. She will also be missed by her 6 grandsons: Tim, Nathan, Caleb, Kennedy, Corey, and Zachary; and her 4 granddaughters: Kelsey, Kimberly, Cassie, and Bethany; along with her 12 great-grandsons and 3 great-granddaughters. She will also be dearly missed by her fur baby, BB. Also left to cherish the good times they had is her sister: Bess King of Duncan, SC; brothers: Bonnell King of KY and Morris King of GA; along with a host of nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, and bothers-in-law; as well as many Church family members and friends. Norma’s wishes are that a private graveside service is held and then a memorial service to celebrate her life take place at a later time. The memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at the Pleasant Pines Independent Baptist Church, located at 401 South Main Street, Gaston, SC, 29053. She said that she did not want people to be sad for her because she was now with God, and it is time to celebrate. She now has a new body and is waiting for all of us to arrive. The family would like to send a huge thanks to all the Amedisys Hospice Care workers who were there anytime they were needed. Your work is essential and very much appreciated. 2 Corinthians 5:8 - We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
