Nell died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, March 15, 2024. Nell Cunningham Boozer was born in Lancaster, SC, on October 15, 1924, to Conley Gilliam and Mary Ellen Roberts Cunningham. Nell lived her life to the fullest as a mother of six, a homemaker, and as a devoted follower of Jesus serving others in any way she could. She was a long-time member of Rosewood Baptist Church in Columbia, where she served her church in many capacities. Her Christian principles influenced her daily life as she lived out genuine compassion, deep kindness, unmatched hospitality, and unconditional love to everyone she met. If you knew her, you adored her. She treasured singing (especially all the classic hymns and Gaither songs) and passed that love of music on to her family. She enjoyed Bible study, family gatherings, and sports. Just a short time ago she was still swinging the bat and hitting baseballs in her back yard. She loved the Gamecocks and watching the Atlanta Braves. She had an amazing sense of humor and kept a smile on her face and on yours if you were with her. She was full of joy, and she encouraged everyone she met with the truth of God’s faithfulness and goodness. She made those around her feel seen, heard, and known. Nell is survived by her children: Jonell Joye, Alton Boozer (Vicki), Cindy Beaulieu (Barry), and Teresa McGuire (Patrick), 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and her loving nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Glenda Cunningham Purvis, her children Kathy Boozer Johnston and Charles W. Boozer, Jr., and her grandson Jay Johnston. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” -2 Timothy 4:7
