The funeral service for Nell Derrick Bailey, 96, formerly of Irmo, will be held on Friday, May 3, 2024, in the chapel of Temples-Halloran Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Elder John Dennison will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow the service in Bush River Memorial Gardens. Nell was born in Columbia on August 29, 1927, and departed this earthly life on Sunday, April 28, 2024. She was the daughter of Curtis Wildon Derrick, Sr., and Thelma Nunamaker Derrick. Nell was a long-time member of St. Andrews Road Church of Christ where she taught a Sunday School class. She had retired from the General Electric Manufacturing Plant with over 30 years of service. Nell is survived by her grandson, Jeffrey Cannon (Amanda) of Newberry; her sister, Jennie Ellisor of Irmo; her brother, Danny Derrick, Irmo, her son-in-law, Doyle Gene Cannon, and her great-grandchildren, Ashlynn, Jase, Ava, and Amelia. Those who preceded her in death include her husband, Albert Larry Bailey; her daughter, Frances Gail Cannon; and her brothers, Curtis W. Derrick, Jr. and Dwight Derrick.
