Nancy Jane Carder Harman of Lexington, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2020.A private family graveside service will be held at Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church cemetery, 3050 Leaphart Road, West Columbia, S.C., 29169.In light of the recent Novel Covid-19 virus, a memorial service will be held at a future date at the church. Born in Columbia, S.C. Nancy was the daughter of the late Carl and Margaret L. Walker Carder. Nancy was married to her loving husband, Claude K. Harman for 36 years. Mrs. Harman worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for more than 30 years and retired from National Health Care with over 15 years of service. Nancy was the recipient of the Regional Certified Nursing Assistant of the Year Award for the state of South Carolina in 1997.In addition, she also received CNA of the year while working at NHC.Even in retirement, Mrs. Harman continued to serve those in need through her volunteer efforts with the elderly in nursing homes and those on homebound.When she wasn’t serving others, Nancy enjoyed fishing and was an avid and award-winning bowler. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Ronald E. Wingard, and a niece, Stephanie Louise Palmer.Those who mourn her passing but celebrate her life include her beloved Libby Louise Kannaday Harman, Nancy’s four legged daughter; husband, Claude K. Harman, sons, Donald T. Wingard, Christopher C. Harman, Claude “Chip” K. Harman, Jr. (April); a sister, Susan M. Donie (Kenny), and a brother, Ronnie C. Carder; grandchildren, Jessica M. Harman, Hannelore E. Harman, Kayla Alyssa Harman, and Austin E. Wingard.
