Nancy Mills Biggs

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Nancy Mills Biggs, Sunday, November 24, 2024 in Columbia, South Carolina at the age of 81.

Nancy is survived by her children John Crane, Jr. (Val), Deborah Crane, Beth Crane, and Jennifer Biggs, along with four grandchildren; Christopher Davis, Chad Crane, Daniel Crane, and Devin Bingham.

She was preceded in death by her brother Tommy Mills and husband Dan Biggs, Jr.

A graduate of Columbia High School, she attended the University of South Carolina – Aiken where she obtained her Bachelor's in Nursing in her early 50's. Nancy worked in nursing until her retirement after 20 years.

Beginning her own family as she had promised herself, Nancy ventured through life with her four children in tow and her husband Dan Biggs by her side until they reached 47, then the rest she was left to navigate on her own. She endured much in her 81 years, but nothing hit her harder than the loss of her husband and best friend. Nancy very much loved her family and friends and knew how to have a unique relationship with each and every one of them. It can be safely said that every person who crossed her path noticed her light and thought she was special.

If you knew Nancy, you knew what it meant to be continuously surprised and caught off guard by her thoughts and comments. You would have known her love for roses, fairies, the beach, beauty, and all things whimsical. You would have known her ability to have an endless supply of salt and soap and her insistence to never let you run out of either. She had a generous heart, and there was no way you would leave her house empty handed. She found joy in giving, traveling, and time with those she loved. Her home was a haven filled with all that was her, from the mauve colored walls to the flowered bedspreads.

A Celebration of Nancy's Life will be held from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm on January 18, 2025 at Temples-Halloran Funeral Home.

Nancy adored flowers and in her world there was no such thing as too many, however her heart also went out to animals in need, so if you are moved to make a donation in her memory, she often gave to the Humane Society of the United States as well as ASPCA.

You will be missed beyond measure, Nancy. You were a true spirit.
