Myrtle Swygert Lee

Myrtle Lee, age 97, passed away on December 31, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was born on August 18, 1925, near Irmo, South Carolina to the late Clyde and Ernestine Swygert. Following graduation from Irmo High School, she attended Winthrop College. After receiving her Bachelor of Science degree, she worked for Retail Credit Company/Equifax for her entire career. She married the love of her life, Sammie E. Lee, Jr. He preceded her in death after 30 wonderful years of marriage. Myrtle loved to travel with family and friends. She never met a stranger. A longtime member of St. Andrews Baptist Church, she served in the children’s division for over 60 years. She is survived by her sons Randy Lee and Kerry Lee (Janice); granddaughter Brandie Meetze; great-grandsons Dylan Meetze and Ryan Meetze; and nieces and nephews. All of these she loved deeply. The family thanks the staff of Heritage at Lowman for their care of her during her later years. Please join us in celebrating her life at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 11, at St. Andrews Baptist Church, 230 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC. Visitation will be at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Andrews Baptist Church or an organization of choice.
