COLUMBIA—The funeral service for Mrs. Muriel Y. Dantzler, 94, of Columbia, will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Brookland United Methodist Church, 541 Meeting Street, West Columbia, SC 29169.Her family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall from 10:30 a.m. until service time.The Reverend Fran S. Connell will officiate.Burial will follow the funeral in Bush River Memorial Gardens, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212. Temples Halloran Funeral Home is assisting the family. Born in Aiken County, SC on February 5, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Lonnie Gerald Young and Annice Poole Young.Mrs. Dantzler, widow of the late Marvin M. Dantzler, Jr. died on Saturday, September 3, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.Muriel was a longtime member of Brookland United Methodist Church of West Columbia, she was President of the UMW of the Church.Mrs. Dantzler was also a member of the Eastern Star. Muriel was one of the ticket ladies at USC Sporting events; also a poll worker at Seven Oaks voting precinct. She retired from the State of South Carolina, where she worked for Vocational Rehabilitation. Surviving are her daughters, Ramona Lanier (Jack) of Blythewood and Patricia Richardson (Pat) of Covington, GA; son, Mark Dantzler of Columbia and daughter-in-law, Bonnie Dantzler of Batesburg, SC; grandchildren, Annette Sease (Dean), Tommy Rivers, Wendy Rivers, Laura Sawyer (Trey), Ronnie Rivers, Kevin Rivers and fiancé, Christy, Lyndall Dantzler, Russ Dantzler (Jessica), Kim Murphy and Ryan Richardson (Kelsey); 20 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Henrietta Howell (Kirk) of St. George, SC, Tennie Stoudenmire (Melvin) of Greenville, SC, Jackie Bradham of Eutawville, SC; and a lifelong friend, Margaret Smith.She was preceded in death by her late husband, Marvin; son, Russ Dantzler; sister, Velma Sweatman; brothers, Billy Young, Brodus Young and Everett Young.
