Mildred Meetze Ganus, 85, of Chapin, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2020.Mildred was born on January 12, 1935 to parents Heber and Mazie (Eleazer) Meetze and was one of four children.Reared in Chapin, Mildred continued to call this community her home for many years.Mildred married Earl Ray Ganus and together they raised three daughters and enjoyed 45 years of marriage before Earl’s passing in 2000. To add to her talents of being a devoted wife and loving mother, Mrs. Ganus was an accomplished gardener and canned the bounty of her elaborate garden during every harvest season.A lover of sewing, especially that of quilting, Mildred also enjoyed various outdoor activities such as camping; and traveling, especially taking fun and memorable cruise trips with her family.She was a member of Irmo Church of God for over 30 years and served those in her church and community without hesitation. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ganus was preceded in death by her husband Mr. Earl Ray Ganus; and three sisters, Thelma Derrick, Catherine Bouknight, and Dorothy Hooss. Those who mourn her loss, but celebrate her life well lived, include three daughters, Brenda Quick (Earl), Cheryl Palmer (James), and Cathy Troutman (Roger); five grandchildren, Jeremy Quick, Kimberly Quick, Matthew (Brooke) Brittain, Bobby (Cori) Brittain, and Rachel Switzer; four great grandchildren, Britt, Parker, Grayson, and Oakley.
