Melba Lee Callahan

Melba Lee Callahan, 93, formerly of Blackville, SC, passed away, Sunday, May 24, 2020 at the Lowman Home. She was born on March 22, 1927, in Cleveland County, NC to the late Jacob Lee and Sally Philbeck Lee.Melba graduated from Mooresboro High School, where she excelled on the girls basketball team.She and her late husband, Bill, moved to Blackville, SC, where she resided for many years and raised 3 sons.They were longtime members of the Blackville Baptist Church.Melba will be fondly remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.She loved to play golf, as well as work in her garden. Survivors include sons: Ron Callahan (Patricia), Rocky Callahan (Kathy), and Rusty Callahan (Nikki); one sister, Nadine Johnson; as well as 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, William a.k.a. Bill Callahan. The private graveside service for Mrs. Melba L. Callahan will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in Cleveland Memorial Park located in Shelby, NC.Reverend Andy Walker will officiate.
