Mary S. Audet

The funeral service for Mary Speaks Humphries Audet, 87, of Columbia, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 24, 2021, in the chapel of Temples Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road Columbia, S.C. 29212.The Reverend Jimmy Goudelock will officiate.A visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Mary was born on August 6, 1933, in Fairfax, S.C., and departed this life on July 17, 2021, at the age of 87.She was the daughter of the late Hamilton G. Speaks and Eva Richardson Speaks.Mary was a longstanding active member of St. Andrews Baptist Church.She was a school teacher at Withers Elementary after college and later worked at SLED but her primary focus was her family.Mary was a great cook and liked cooking for others.She loved her family and enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Survivors include sons, John Humphries, Jr. (Sue), and Steve Humphries (Wendi); Theresa Hanley (Brad), Dawn Audet (Kris), and Lisa Buckminister (Milburn); a sister, Marsha Cancryni (Eddie); grandchildren, Sarah, Elizabeth, Joseph, Mark, and Kyle; and great-grandchildren, Joy, Hazel, and Rowan. Mary is predeceased by two wonderful husbands;her first husband, John B. Humphries, Sr. as well as her second husband, Joseph R. Audet. The family would like to thank Jenni-Lynn Assisted Living, Agape Care Group, and SC House Calls for their dedication and support these past nine months.
