A Funeral Service for Mary L. Alert, 75, of Lexington, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 4, 2022 at Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church, 1205 Old Cherokee Road, Lexington, SC 29072.The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.Burial will follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212. Active pallbearers will be Tom Alert,Ed Link, Jason Alert, and Danny Cooper.Pastor Faye Stephens will officiate. Mary was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on December 20, 1946, to the late John C. Stuart and Wynona Downing Stuart.She passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2022.Mary was a graduate of Morehead State University, she worked as a Medical Transcriptionist at Lexington Medical Center. She was a devoted member of Mt. Horeb UMC, she loved her church. Mary loved spending time with her grandchildren and her dog, Sam.She became a fan of the Bee Gees and the South Carolina Gamecocks Women’s Basketball team. Surviving are her daughters, Holly Cooper (Danny), and Nancy Link (Ed); sons, Jason Alert (Genevieve) and Tom Alert (Amber Langley); brothers, William Stuart (Nagako) and Charles Stuart (Stephanie); grandchildren, Noah, Hannah, Becky Amanda, Mitchell, Beckett, River-Rose, Emerson, and Noelle. In addition, she had 5 great-grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her daughter,Linda Alert. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church, 1205 Old Cherokee Road, Lexington, SC 29072.
