COLUMBIA—Marvin Wayne Schoon, Sr., 91, of Columbia passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2018.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the Chapel of Temples Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212 with The Reverend Dr. Dale Welden officiating.Burial will follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens with military honors.The family will greet friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Marvin was born in Gary, Indiana to the late Jacob J. Schoon and Mary Fulton Schoon.He was a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church.He proudly served in the US Air Force during WWII,he retired as a comptroller from McLouth Steel and Blue Cross Blue Shield in Detroit, MI. He was an avid golfer and a senior games track champion along with winning many other medals. Survived by his wife, Faye Schoon; daughters, Susan Bankhead of Columbia and Diane Felder (John) of Columbia; sons, Richard Schoon (Maria) of Trenton, MI and John Schoon (Kim) of Hobe Sound, FL; 17 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Don Schoon of Pasadena, CA. He was preceded in death by his first wife, of 50 years, Rosanna Schoon; son, Marvin W. Schoon, Jr.
