Marvin M. Norman

The funeral service for Marvin Mayo Norman, 76, of Columbia, will be held on Monday, April 18, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in Irmo Church of God, 10215 Broad River Road, Irmo, SC 29063. Bishop Randy Caulder will officiate. The burial will be private. Marvin was born May 6, 1945, in Columbia, SC, and passed away on April 11, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late Marvin Mayo Norman and Carrie Lee Sharpe Norman. Marvin proudly served in the United State Navy. He retired from ATT after 28 years of service working as a lineman. Marvin was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America and Olympia Pacific Masonic Lodge. He loved fishing and hunting. Marvin loved volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House, he would dress up as a clown, and he was also known as the Balloon man at Cici Pizza. Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Margaret Huffstettler Norman; daughter, Laura L. Robinson; son, John Norman (Amy), sister, Lenora Harman (Richard); brother, Dolton Norman (Nova); grandchildren, Derek, Taylor, Ashley, and Jason; great-grandchildren Christopher, Abbey, Sawyer, Ava, Lexi, and Raelynn. Marvin was preceded in death by his son, Lehman Mayo Norman, sister, Pat Chavis, and son-in-law, Jeffrey Todd Robinson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital. 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
