Martha B. Dreher

COLUMBIA—Martha Dreher, 97, of Columbia, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2018, at Richland Memorial Hospital after several years of declining health. She was born on March 28, 1921, to the late Jason and Carrie Keisler Ballington and grew up in the Gilbert/Boiling Springs area of Lexington County.After Business school, Martha’s career included jobs in Textile Accounting and Electrical Manufacturing Quality Control. She later formed her own business, Martha Dreher Realty. Martha loved the Lord and served in her church Sunday School Class and the Stephen Ministry. Martha loved her family and set a high moral standard for them to follow.She loved other people, had a kind and giving heart and always looked for the best in everyone she met.Martha is greatly loved by family and friends. Martha is survived by her children, Gerald E. Vaughn (Susie), Floyd Finley Vaughn, Jr. (JoAnn), Beverly V. McAlister (Jay), Cheryl J. Vaughn and stepson, J. Clarence Dreher, III; sibling, J.W. Ballington of Lexington; eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Martha was predeceased by her husbands, Floyd F. Vaughn, Sr. and J. Clarence Dreher, Jr.; and her daughter, Ann Hanna. Funeral services for Martha will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 20, 2018, at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 3200 Trenholm Road, Columbia, SC 29204. Reverend James St. John will officiate.Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, 501 Elmwood Avenue, Columbia, SC 29201.The family will greet friends at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in honor of Martha Dreher to Eastminster Presbyterian Church, Stephen Ministry, 3200 Trenholm Road, Columbia, SC 29204. The family is most appreciative for the excellent care provided to Martha Dreher by her caregivers at the home, Still Hopes Skilled Nursing, and Richland Memorial Hospital.
