Marian was born on May 23, 1921 in Marion, South Carolina, to James Rogers and Julia B. Sawyer Rogers.She was an active church member and Sunday School teacher at Eastside Baptist Church for over 70 years.She worked as a medical secretary and also served as a faithful volunteer at Palmetto Health Baptist.Marian’s life reflected to others the love of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She is survived by her daughter, Sally C. Thompson (Tommy) of Columbia; sons, James C. Carmichael of Oakland, CA and Paul Carmichael of Columbia; brother, Jackie D. Rogers of Florence, SC; and dear nieces and nephews.She is lovingly remembered as "Nana" by her five grandchildren, Melanie, Cal, Joshua, Stephen, and Elizabeth; and two great-grandchildren, Megan and Anabel.Marian was preceded in death by her parents; her late husband, Carol L. Carmichael; one sister and two brothers. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the Memory Care CNAs and Skilled Care CNAs and nurses of Wellmore, as well as Abbey Road Hospice for the compassionate and loving care they extended to Marian. The funeral service will be held Monday, January 22, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Temples Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212 with Reverend Dr. Dennis R. Letts, officiating. The family will receive friends from 12-1:00 p.m.at the funeral home prior to the service.Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209.
