Margee Gibson Sallman, passed away on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at the age of 95.The daughter of the late Willie and Belle Kinard Gibson, she was born on January 25, 1926, in Ulmer, SC. After graduation from Lodge High School, Margee worked for the American Red Cross in Columbia and in 1945 met John Sallman, a returning Veteran from the South Pacific.She and John, a native of Chicago, were married in 1945.While in her forties, Margee enrolled at USC and received a Bachelor of Arts degree, and was at the top of her graduating class.She then became an instructor of secretarial science at Midlands Technical Center and retired from that position in 1989. She was an avid gardener and grew the most delicious butter beans known to humankind. Her other hobbies included walking, reading, and working crossword puzzles. She was a member of the Virginia Wingard Methodist Church in Saint Andrews. She was predeceased by her husband, John; her grandson, Josh, and her brother, Wilbur.She is survived by her children, Jack and Barbara; her daughter-in-law, Betsy; three grandchildren, John, Casey, and Bryan; and five great-grandchildren; Rachael, Benjamin, Luke, Logan, and Max. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 1, 2021, in Bush River Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212. Reverend Beth Faulk will officiate. The family will greet friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in honor of Margee to a charity of one's choice.
