COLUMBIA-- Mr. Luther Cas (known to most as L.C.) Goins, 70, passed from this life on Sunday, January 27, 2019. His memorial service will be held on Friday, February 1 at 4:00 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building at 7449 Broad River Road in Irmo, South Carolina. Burial will be done privately. The Goins Family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m prior to the service in the Relief Society Room. Because Dad was a fan of all things BYU, those attending are invited to wear BYU colors in honor of Dad's favorite team. L.C. was born July 18, 1948 in Letcher County, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Homer Goins and Cuba Irene Manns Goins. He was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School in Taylor, Michigan, class of 1966. He earned both Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Brigham Young University. Prior to his retirement, L.C. worked as a park ranger at Crooked Creek Park, Saluda Shoals Park, and for the City of Columbia. In his spare time he enjoyed traveling to visit his grandkids and staying current on BYU sports. He served in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints temple and in various church callings. He spent time teaching his daughters how to throw and catch a ball. He was always on the sidelines encouraging and cheering for his girls. L.C. had an unwavering faith in and love of God and Jesus Christ. He shared this knowledge and love with his family and friends. When people speak of L.C., they talk about his kindness and unconditional love for others. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Janelle McInally Goins; daughters, Deena Harris (Jeff), Kassie Bunting (Jacob), Karelyn Goins, Kayla Springer (David); grandchildren, Kylie, Aiden, Landen, Hailey, Brendan, McKay, David, and Thomas; sisters, Sharon Enoch and Bonita Durham (Perry); and their beloved family dog, Emma. His wife and daughters would like to thank those that so kindly cared for L.C. in the last weeks of his life. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the CJD Foundation at cjdfoundation.org.
