The funeral service for Lucy A. Eleazer, 91, of Columbia, will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Andrews Baptist Church at 230 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29210. The Reverend Dr. Ronald “Dee” Vaughan will officiate. The family will receive friends in the church atrium beginning at 10:00 a.m. The interment will be held immediately following the service at Bush River Memorial Gardens, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC, 29212. Mrs. Eleazer was born in Mountville, SC, on July 30, 1931, and passed away at her home with both of her daughters by her side on Friday, January 6, 2023. She was the daughter of the late John Haskell Atchison and the late Inez Miller Atchison. After graduating from high school, she moved to Columbia where she met and married the love of her life, W. Ralph Eleazer. He preceded her in death after 58 wonderful years of marriage. Mrs. Eleazer is survived by her daughters, Kathy Williams (Gary) of Irmo and Sara Hunter (Howard) of Summerville, and grandchildren, Kim Chavis (Joe) and Josh Protheroe. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Brady and Kate Chavis and Hunter and Dakota Protheroe. She was also preceded in death by her sisters Ruth Sharpe and Mary Atchinson. Mrs. Eleazer attended Columbia Commercial College. She was a longtime employee of Southern Bell. After her retirement she and Ralph spent many years traveling the country and spending time with their family. They also enjoyed volunteering with the youth of their church. Mrs. Eleazer was a charter member of Saint Andrews Baptist Church. She continued to be an active member and volunteer until her passing. She was also a member of the Prisma Heath Volunteer Auxiliary at Prisma Health Baptist Hospital where she volunteered in their gift shop and served on the Volunteer Auxiliary Board.
