The funeral service for Lucretia S. Gates, 94, of Lexington, will be held Thursday, July 21, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Lexington Baptist Church, 308 East Main Street, Lexington, SC 29072. The Reverend Dan Williams will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the church. The burial will follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Lucretia was born on October 13, 1927, in Dry Ridge, Kentucky, and passed away on July 18, 2022. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Skinner and Maude Hudson Skinner. She worked at the South Carolina Dept. of Youth Service and retired after 25 years of faithful service. Lucretia graduated from Cumberland College with a degree in Music. She was a member of Lexington Baptist Church where she sang in the church choir. While residing for 8 years at Deepwood Estates she used her musical talent by playing the organ for the residents. Survivors include daughter, Lynda Litton Fletcher of Lexington; son, John T. Litton (Joan) of Georgetown, SC; sister, Maude Skinner of Mason, Ohio; grandchildren, Blake Fletcher (Nikki Atencio) of Cayce, Nicole (Jeromy) Bartlett of Charlotte, Walker Garrison (Ashley Holland) of Garner, NC, and Hope Hartley (Nicholas Caulder) of Lexington, SC; great-grandchildren, Morgan and Hunter Bartlett. Those who preceded her in death include her late husband, A.C. Gates; sister, Frances Huggins and son-in-law, Milton Fletcher. Memorials in her honor should be directed to Lexington Baptist Church Senior Adult Ministry (308 E. Main St. Lexington, SC 29072)
