Louisa G. "Lou" Mcmickens

Louisa G. “Lou” McMickens, of Irmo, died on December 22, 2018.Born in Birmingham, Alabama to parents Albin and Gervaise Terry Guilian, Louisa resided there until 1978.Louisa was married to her late husband, Mr. Charles E. McMickens, Sr. for 51 years.Mrs. McMickens, owner of LM Creations, was a talented artist who’s medium included porcelain figurines and dolls.In addition to her work as an artist, Louisa enjoyed traveling, collecting antiques, and decorating.A devoted member of Gateway Baptist Church, Mrs. McMickens enjoyed teaching bible study classes, music, and working with children. Cherishing her family and friends, Mrs. McMickens relished the time spent with them in creating memories to last a lifetime.She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Mrs. McMickens is survived by two siblings, brother, Donald Guilian of Solon,Ohio, and sister, Olean Clark of McCalla, A.L.;one daughter, Lora McMickens Dyal (Randy) of Irmo, S.C.; two sons, Charles “Chip” Edward McMickens, Jr. (Laura) of West Columbia, S.C., and Michael David McMickens of Irmo, S.C.; five grandchildren, Steven Dyal of Greenville, S.C., Matthew Burrell of Birmingham, A.L., Zach McMickens of Mobile, A.L., Ben McMickens and Will McMickens both of West Columbia, S.C.She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Madelyn Amelia Guilian. To celebrate her life, a memorial service for Louisa Guilian McMickens will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Gateway Baptist Church’s Chapel, 1651 Dutch Fork Road Irmo, S.C. 29063.The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gateway Baptist Church.
