Louie A. Davenport

The funeral service for Louie Aaron Davenport will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at St. Andrews Baptist Church (230 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29210). The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until the hour of the service at the church. Louie will be buried on Friday, October 6, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Louie Aaron Davenport, 86, of Irmo passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023. He was born on March 23, 1937, in Greenville, SC, to George Reeves Davenport and Lelia Mary Welborn Davenport. Louie proudly served his country in the US Army from 1957 to 1963. He devoted his entire working career to one company and retired from the Sherwin-Williams Company after over 40 years of service. He worked his way up the corporate ladder starting as a bookkeeper, store manager, district manager, and regional Vice President. He was always proud to say he worked for Sherwin Williams. Louie was a longtime member and deacon at St. Andrews Baptist Church. His church was extremely important to him and he devoted many hours of service to various projects and committees at the church. In addition, Louie’s family was his number one priority, always showing love and devotion to those around him. Louie is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Ann M. Davenport; his daughter, Becky Wrenn (Preston); and his son, Bob Davenport (Shannon). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tyler Wrenn (Chelsea); Julia Tolar (Anderson); Miller Davenport; and Addison Davenport. Besides his parents, Louie was predeceased by his four brothers, George Davenport; Charles Davenport; James Davenport; and Joe Davenport. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Andrews Baptist Church.
