Lloyd Max Lohuis, a beloved resident of Irmo, SC, passed away on July 15, 2024, at the age of 77. Born in Muskegon, MI, on March 17, 1947, to Maxine Jeanette Garlock and Fred Lohuis, Jr., Lloyd's life was filled with adventure, service, and love. Lloyd's journey began in Muskegon, where he attended Mona Shores High School and Muskegon Community College. His sense of duty and patriotism led him to join the United States Marine Corps, serving valiantly during the Vietnam War. After completing two tours, he returned to Muskegon and married his soulmate, Leona, on October 17, 1970. Lloyd dedicated over 30 years to the furniture manufacturing industry, working for Shaw Walker, Westinghouse, and Knoll. His passion for skeet and target shooting took him to various competitions with friends, where he honed his skills and shared many joyful moments. In 2009, Lloyd and Leona moved to Irmo, SC, where they forged new friendships and embarked on fresh adventures. Known for his radiant spirit, Lloyd was a beacon of light and laughter, always ready to engage in conversation with anyone around him. His insatiable curiosity and willingness to help others defined his character. As a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Lloyd's love knew no bounds. His playful energy, especially with his grandchildren, and his penchant for pranks made him a cherished role model. His influence extended far beyond his immediate family, touching the lives of many who knew him. Lloyd is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Leona Paulett (Grant) Lohuis; his daughter, Kimberly Ann Lohuis; his grandchildren, Aiden Max Lohuis, Ella Grace Lohuis, and Justin Lohuis; and his three sisters, Sandy Taylor, Marjorie Hernandez, and Jeanne Molenkamp. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Wade Lohuis. In honor of Lloyd's generous spirit, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of one's choice in his name. A private funeral service will be held for the family, with a celebration of his remarkable life to follow at a later date. Lloyd's legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will forever be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
