Linda Gail Lyon

July 4, 1960 — April 12, 2024

Linda Gail Lyon, 63, of Columbia, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, April 12, 2024. Born on the 4th of July 1960, in Rhodesia (currently known as Zimbabwe), Linda was the daughter of Sybil Nelson and the late Bernard Robinson. Linda left Africa in the early 1980's to work on cruise ships while traveling the world. While working on ships, she filled the roles of casino dealer, croupier, and eventually managed the casino. Linda eventually settled in Southeast Florida where she continued working on smaller ships as a casino manager. She met her husband Andy on the “Midnight Gambler” in Ft. Pierce, FL. She was the casino manager and he was the captain. Linda and her family moved to Columbia, South Carolina in March of 2006, where she helped raise her family. Most of her time was spent being a loving mother, ensuring her family had a home-cooked meal every night. To know Linda was to love her. Linda was a devoted mother who loved her boys more than anything in the world. Linda loved her entire family, spending her time gardening, enjoying the outdoors, and every animal that crossed her path. She volunteered with Boy Scout troop 312 as treasurer due to her uncanny ability to crunch numbers. She is survived by her loving husband of 26 years: Andrew Lyon; sons: Daniel and Dale Lyon; her mother: Sybil Nelson; and brother: Stewart Robinson (Liz). Linda was preceded in death by her father, Bernard Lewis Robinson. A Service of Remembrance for Linda will be held at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at The Episcopal Church of St. Simon and St. Jude, 1110 Kinley Road, Irmo, South Carolina, 29063. Reverend Jill Williams will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Linda’s memory be made to the Indian Waters Boy Scout Council: 715 Betsy Drive, Suite B6, Columbia, SC 29210, or online at: https://indianwaters.org/give-2/
