Linda Champion Floyd, age 76, of Columbia, SC, passed on January 6th, 2022, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Linda was a Godly woman who fought her battle with faith and grace. Linda was born May 9, 1945, in Rutherfordton, NC, the daughter of the late Roy and Lela Champion. She was a graduate of Central High School. Linda retired from the S.C. Forestry Commission after 23 years of service. She was an active member of Seven Oaks Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, and was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. She was President of the Presbyterian Women, an Elder, a member of the Rachel Circle, and chaired the Fall Bazaar several times. Linda loved participating in Family Promise. Linda was also an active member of the St. Andrews Woman’s Club for over 40 years. She served as President twice and chaired many committees. Linda was a resident of the Whitehall Community for over 40 years and was a member of the garden club and participated in many community activities. Linda, the widow of Malcolm Dale Floyd, is survived by her children, Jennifer (Chris) Eanes, Leigh Wilkie (Jeff Rochester), Karen (Jason) Hall, Pat (Rick) Dempster, Dean (Angela) Floyd, and Dale Jr. (Tena) Floyd; sister, Marsha (Richard) Wilson; brother, Gary (Paula) Champion; brother-in-law, Coke Floyd; ten grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.Linda was predeceased by her sister, Gail Thompson. Linda loved her garden, sewing, and being a homemaker. She was a friend to many and lived a truly Christian life giving to others and sharing of her talents. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 12th at 11:00 a.m. at Seven Oaks Presbyterian Church with visitation to begin at 10:00 a.m. A private family internment will be held prior to the service at Temples-Halloran Funeral Home. A reception will follow immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Seven Oaks Presbyterian Church or The American Cancer Society.
