CHAPIN- Lewie Harrell, beloved husband to Sarah Murray Harrell (Sally) for 48 years, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, September 15, 2014 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.Born in Columbia, SC he was the son of Analda Jumper Harrell and Lewie King Harrell, Sr.Lewie grew up in Columbia and graduated from Irmo High School in 1959.He attended USC and went to Farrier school in South Dakota.Lewie worked as a farrier until he began his career with Proctor & Gamble.During that time he also owned and operated a paint contracting business and a dock building business.After retirement he continued to work as a title abstractor for Harrell & Martin Law firm.He was a faithful member of Lake Murray Presbyterian Church, Boyston Masonic Lodge and the Jamil Shriners.Lewie enjoyed living on Lake Murray and boating down the Intracoastal Waterway. He loved life with his family and friends and his faithful dog Max. Left to enjoy his memories in addition to his wife Sally; son Lewie King “Trey” Harrell, III (Pam) of Chapin, daughter Sarah Amy Harrell Stone (Lance)of John’s Island, SC, grandchildren Shelby, Belle & Saylor Harrell, Amelia & Cooper Stone and sister Barbara Harrell Adams.In addition to his parents, Lewie was predeceased by his brother Vandy Saylor Harrell. Services will be conducted on Friday, September 19, 2014 at 3:00 at Lake Murray Presbyterian Church, 2721 Dutch Fork Road, Chapin, SC 29036 with visitation to follow. Temples Halloran Funeral Home will be assisting the family.
