Leroy “Roy” E. Miller, age 91, of Pooler, GA, and formerly of Irmo and Hilton Head, SC, passed away on November 22, 2024.
Born on March 30, 1933, in Fennville, MI, to Clarence and Mary Miller, Roy served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955, stationed in Germany. He earned a business degree from the University of South Carolina in 1960.
Working as an accountant, Roy became the Head of the South Carolina State Department of Economic Development and in 1978, he founded his own real estate company, Standard Properties.
Roy was an active member of Dutch Fork Christian Church, where he enjoyed spending time with his church family and serving as a deacon and singing in the church choir.
In addition to his parents, Clarence and Mary Miller, he is predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy Spivey Miller; son, Jeff Miller; sister Julia Layton and her husband Ronald Layton; brother-in-law, Harold Spivey. Those left to cherish his memory include his twin daughters, Lisa K. Yekel of Savannah, GA, Tina M. Demery (Tim) of Tybee Island, GA; seven grandchildren, Heather Capallo (Dave), Carli Garman (Ben), Jennifer Miller, Ashleigh Yekel, Sean Yekel, Blake Yekel, Brett Yekel; four great-grandchildren, Kathryn and Mary Claire Capallo and Jacob and Jackson Garmon.
Funeral Services will be held12:30 pm on Monday, December 2, 2024, at Bush River Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with the Reverend Robert “Bob” Spivey officiating. The family will receive family and friends from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. prior to the service in the Mausoleum Chapel.
