Leonel Torres

Visitation will be held for Leonel Torres, 84, Saturday, October 1, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. at Temples Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212. Leonel was born on September 13, 1938, in Moquegua, Peru to the late Carmen Ernestina Duran Gutierrez. Leonel is predeceased by his late wife, Leonor Torres of 54 years. He will be remembered by his daughters, Dalia Riester (Steve) and Wilda Williamson (Ray). Leonel will also be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Andrew Riester, Maddilyn Riester, Anthony Williamson, Connor Williamson, and Jack Williamson, and by his extended family of his late wife’s side, Mario Quicaño, Julio Agusto Quicaño, Julio Albino Quicaño, and Carmela Quicaño de Espinoza. Leonel dedicated over 41 years with NCR, which started in Lima, Peru, then moved with the company to Dayton, Ohio, and a final move to Columbia, South Carolina. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Lovingly known as “Papa”, his greatest pleasure in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Papa had the ability to find happiness in his daily activities. His pleasant personality was contagious to everyone he met. He always had a positive attitude and was always willing to help whenever needed. Our comfort is knowing that Papa and Mama are together again resting peacefully.
