The funeral service for Lela Mae Carter, 93, of Lexington will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Temples-Halloran Funeral Home located at 5400 Bush River Rd. Columbia SC, 29212, with Suzanne Ringer, Chaplain, officiating.The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 p.m. before the service.The entombment will follow the service at the Bush River Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, located next door, with Reverend John Hamilton officiating. Born in Soperton, Georgia, on August 24, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Tommy Lee Morrison and Mollie Love Morrison. Lela was a longtime member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church and more recently St. Andrews Baptist Church. In her younger years, Lela enjoyed square dancing, gardening, and canning her harvest. She loved to cook and was famous for making a 7-layer cake, which was a family favorite. Her love for her family was unwavering and was known for her spunky personality in her community. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, she touched the lives of anyone who came into contact with her. Surviving is one daughter, Frances Wooten, of Columbia; grandchildren, Don Fabrizio of Greenvile, Alana Bledsoe of Lexington, and Melanie Ruder of Fayetville, and four great grandchildren, Rachel Fabrizio, Josh Fabrizio, Emilyn Ruder, and Paislee Ruder. Those that preceded her in death include husband, James E. “Jake” Carter, daughter, Joyce Eddings, and son in law, Mickey Wooten. Memorials can be made to Oakleaf Village of Lexington, 800 N.
