Kim Kollette Leavenworth, of Chapin and formerly of Fairfax Station, Virginia passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021, surrounded by her devoted and loving family.Kim was born in Bay City, Michigan on March 26, 1958, to parents William Otto Kinsel and Dorothy Virginia Kinsel.Kim was a graduate of Oral Roberts University where she earned her Doctorate in Dentistry.Major Leavenworth served for 15 years in the medical corps as a Dentist for the United States Army and was honorably discharged following those years of service.Kim continued her dentistry work through private practice for the next 24 years. In addition to her military service, Major Leavenworth participated in mission work through service in Kenya and was a devoted member of Chapin United Methodist Church.She enjoyed dancing, singing, snow skiing, water skiing, boating, and gardening.Her truest joy came from sharing the love of Jesus Christ with her children and all those she encountered. Kim was preceded in death by both parents and her first husband, Benjamin Kellogg Leavenworth, III, and sister, Brenda Potter. Those left to mourn her death but celebrate her life include her spouse, Gary Heiligman; daughters, Liz Leavenworth (Shayne Leonard) and Cassie Leavenworth; sisters, Wendy Kinsel Zepeda (Carlos) and Denise Kinsel; and two grandchildren, Bella Leonard and Elias Leonard. A family graveside will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 3, 2021 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery with military honors.A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 3, 2021 at Chapin United Methodist Church, 415 Lexington Ave, Chapin, S.C. 29036.The family will receive friends following the service.
