The funeral service for Katherine B. Cogdill, 84, of Lexington, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at Riverland Hills Baptist Church, 201 Lake Murray Boulevard, Irmo, S.C., 29063. Dr. Ed Carney and Dr. Ryan Pack will officiate. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the church sanctuary. The interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. in Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, S.C. 29072. Katherine was born on March 5, 1938 in Haverhill, Massachusetts and departed this earthly life on July 27, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late John Leschensky and Ruth H. Ferguson Leschensky. Katherine was a charter member of Riverland Hills Baptist Church along with her husband, Bill. At Riverland Hills Baptist Church, she was a member of the Friendship Class, the Greeter Ministry, assisted with vacation bible school, the MOP Squad, the Seniors Hall, and helped with the pew supplies and maintenance team. She also volunteered her time and talents while sharing God’s Love through service at Connie Maxwell Children’s Home. Katherine’s many hobbies included exercising, playing golf, decorating cakes, and Sudoku. She served the community as a Red Cross Platelet donor and provided hand sewn hats for the Children’s Hospital. Survivors include her loving husband of 65 years, William Lloyd Cogdill, Jr.; sons, Garry Cogdill (Sharon) of Lexington, and William Lloyd Cogdill, III of Lexington; sister, Sylvia Stevens; grandchildren, Allison, Bradley, Courtney, Kirstin, and Mia; and two great grandchildren, Riley Kate and Banks. In addition to her parents, Katherine was preceded in death by her sister, Eva and her brother, Jinx. The Cogdill family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care provided by her dear friends Amelia Woodsen and Pat Watson, along with her caregivers, Patti Cavanaugh, Patricia Bishop, Lakie Vann, and Nita Fleming. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Riverland Hills Baptist Church, 201 Lake Murray Boulevard, Irmo, S.C. 29063 or Providence Home, P.O. Box 3188, Columbia, S.C. 29203 for the Chapel Building fund.
