Mrs. Karen Davis Guyton, “Mimi”, 72, was called home to God on Monday afternoon, August 14, 2023. She was surrounded by her loving husband of 43 years, Ted Guyton and daughter, Lindsay Dowd (John). She is also survived by her stepdaughter, Jane Wilkinson (Bobby); stepson Thad Guyton (Michelle); and her grandchildren Kaley, Morgan, Mason, and Colton; and nephew Ryan Hellams (Kelly). Karen was preceded in death by her parents Ray and Bena Davis of Greenville, and her beloved twin sister, Susan Davis. Karen was born on October 19, 1950, in Greenville, SC. She graduated from Wade Hampton High School, attended Columbia College, and earned a B.A. degree in business. Karen enjoyed being active in the student government, was voted by her peers as senior class vice president and received the prestigious honor as member of the May Court and member of Phi Beta Lambda sorority. She was voted one of the best dressed women in South Carolina. “Mimi” was a loving mother, grandmother, an accomplished shag dancer, incredible cook, and enjoyed playing bridge and collecting antiques. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and taking trips with her girlfriends to Cherokee, NC. Karen was a master at making lists! On any given day, open a kitchen cabinet or drawer, and you could find her latest to do list or detailed instructions for dinner. She was so meticulous and “by the book”, you would never find anything expired in the pantry or fridge! She was organized and full of wit! She liked to joke a lot and would always say to Ted “What are we having for dinner?” Her family and friends will never forget Karen’s perseverance and incredible strength. She was a woman of grace, class, and a true Southern Belle. We will miss her dearly. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Karen’s memory to the Prisma Health Breast Center or Prisma Health Richland Heart Hospital by contacting the Prisma Health Office of Philanthropy at 864-797-7746 or email at Giving@PrismaHealth.org. The family would like to thank Prisma Health Richland Hospital and Prisma Health Hospice for their unwavering love, support, and care provided to Karen. And finally, to her devoted husband, Ted, for being a wonderful caretaker and delivering her daily fountain Diet Cokes.
