COLUMBIA—A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church, 120 Marydale Lane, Columbia, SC 29210 with Father Peter Sousa, officiating. Burial will follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens.The family will received friends Friday, October 13, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., with Rosary at 7:30 p.m. at Temples Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212. Born in Charleston, SC on December 11, 1932, he was the son of the late John Charles Albers and Madeline Schrage Albers.He proudly served his country in the US Navy.Mr. Albers along with his late wife were charter members of Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church.He began his working career with the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, then later managed for Blue Cross Blue Shield in Charleston for several years. Mr. Albers was associated with The Mechanical Contracting Association of South Carolina for many years and later concluded his working career as ProcurementOfficer with Richland County. Surviving are his son, Joseph A. Albers, Jr. (Anna) of Blythewood; daughter, Paula A. Munn (Darrell) of Camden; son, Gregory T. Albers (Donna) of Lexington; sister, Carolyn Hess of Awendaw; brother, John Henry Albers (Helen) of Johns Island; grandchildren, Gabrielle H. Munn, Justin B. Munn (Saskia), Gregory T. Albers, Jr. (Shannon) and Morgan A. McMillin (Nick); great grandchildren, Kaidan B. Munn, Lukas G. Munn and step-great grandson, Connor Ruddy.He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, June K. Albers. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church, 120 Marydale Lane, Columbia, SC 29210 or a memorial of your choice.
