John Earl Robertson

IRMO-A Celebration of Life Service for John Earl Robertson, 61, of Irmo will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 14, 2018 at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 6952 St. Andrews Road, Columbia, SC 29212. The family will greet friends from 10-10:45a.m. at the church prior to the service.The Reverend Dr. Dale Welden will officiate. John E. Robertson, beloved husband of Karen McGee Robertson and father of Benjamin Gerald Robertson, passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2018. Born in Birmingham, AL, he was the son of the late Carl Ellard Robertson, Jr. and Geraldine Sweat Robertson. John attended the Francis Marion University and was an active member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. He was currently employed atBlue Cross/Blue Shield in Information Technology and previously worked for IBM for 17 years in Information Technology/Disaster Recovery Planning. He was an Eagle Scout, a Cub Scout Troop leader for Pack 48, and a dedicated orchestra trips chaperone. Resident of Columbia for the past 21 years, formerly of Florence. He will be remembered for his love of family, outdoor activities, and ability to make everyone laugh. Surviving in addition to his wife of 30 years, Karen McGee Robertson of Irmo; son, Benjamin Robertson of Irmo; in-laws, Eloise and B.F. McGee; three sisters, Marianne Hoylen (Billy) of Florence, Susan Chamberlin (Bob) of Wilmington and Betsy Robertson (JR Oakley) of Florence; and sister-in-law, Laura McGee Meyer (Chris). In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 6952 St. Andrews Road, Columbia, SC 29212 and/or Rivercrest Presbyterian Church, PO Box 2532, Irmo, SC 29063.
