CHAPIN—Funeral services for John Walton Mann, 83, of Chapin, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 27, 2014 at Chapin United Methodist Church, 415 Lexington Avenue, Chapin, SC 29036.The Reverend Jody Flowers and Reverend Albert Cox will officiate.Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors.Honorary pallbearers will be the Christian Fellowship Class.The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall at the church.Temples Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212 will assist the family. He was born in Ashburn, GA on June 8, 1931, to the late Eben Corey Mann and Elizabeth Shepherd Mann. He has been an active member of the CUMC since 1970, serving in many positions of the church and was a former teacher of the Christian Fellowship Class.He served our country for 21 years with the United States Marine Corp; he received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the South Carolina Education Department in 1991 having taught at Irmo Middle School since 1970. He is survived by his beloved wife, Rachel of 601/2 years; daughters, Libbie Mann Shealy (Lynn) and Stephanie Mann Wilkes (Keith); grandchildren, Jennifer Gail Wilkes and Rachel Elizabeth Wilkes, Elaine Shealy Ott (Daniel), and Walton Murray Shealy (Julie); great-grandchildren, Emily and Mason Ott and Jay, Hank and Gage Shealy.
