John Lindsay Hill

May 30, 1951 — July 14, 2016

COLUMBIA — The Celebration of Life for John Lindsay Hill, 65, of Columbia, will be held from 6:00 p.m.– 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Temples Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, S.C., 29212. John went to his Heavenly Home, Thursday, July 14, 2016. A Columbia, S.C. native, John was born May 30, 1951, the son of the late Edwin A. Hill and Mary McCracken Hill. He was a graduate of the old Columbia High School, Class of 1969. He was raised as a member of Park Street Baptist Church and later became a member of Shandon Baptist Church. John was retired from the mortgage brokerage and real estate industry after 20 years of dedicated service. He was also a former president of the Lake Pointe Homeowners Association. An avid Gamecock fan, John also enjoyed little league baseball games (working as a scorekeeper for the Palmetto Baseball League) and he was an accomplished golfer who enjoyed the history of the sport. Before his health began to decline, he enjoyed running and spending time in the outdoors. He loved planting and tending the flowers around his home. His greatest joys were his many friends, family, and the time spent with all. Those who knew John will always treasure the great stories and “kick ass” times! John is survived by his son, Jason L. Hill (Carrie) of Columbia; daughter, Shannon E. Hill of Columbia; brother and sister-in-law, Bryan and Rossana Johnson of Summerville; two grandchildren, Lucy and Cooper Hill; as well as nieces, Itziar and Heather. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shandon Baptist Church, 5250 Forest Drive, Columbia, SC 29206
