COLUMBIA—Funeral services for John David Greene, U.S. Navy, (Retired), 79 of Columbia, will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Temples Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212, with Reverend Mark Bredholt officiating.The visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.Burial with military honors will follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens. John D. Greene, beloved husband of the late Margaret Anne Greene of 53 years,died on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Lexington Medical Center.Born on April 30, 1937 in Lansing, Michigan, he was the son of the late Walter and Violet Newcomer Greene and step-son of the late Olive Greene. Mr. Greene proudly served our country in the US Army and US Navy for 22 years.He was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Navy Expeditionary Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal w/2 Bronze Stars, Army Good Conduct Medal and the Polaris Deterrent Patrol Pin w/one Silver Star. Survivors include his son, Ronald Walter Greene his wife, Zornitsa D. Keremidchieva of Minneapolis, MN and son John Edward Greene of Columbia; grandchildren, Ashlie Michelle Greene, John Thomas Greene, Svetlana Margaret Greene and John Dimo Willis Greene.
