IIRMO—Funeral services for John Henry Brown, 81, of Irmo will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at St. Peter’s Baptist Church, 7910 Broad River Road, Irmo, SC 29063 with The Bishop Odell Sims officiating.Burial will follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212.The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Mr. Brown passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Dothan, Alabama to the late Jessie Brown and Annie Mae Rhodes Brown.John proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. John retired after 25 years, from Pratt & Whitney in E. Hartford, Conn., where he worked as Forklift Operator in Airplane Engine Manufacturing. He was a member of St. Peters Baptist Church and the Elder Brother Ministry. John had a love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and his country. Surviving are his daughter, Loreander Davis and husband, Walter of Hartford, Conn; sons, Melvin Brown of Atlanta, GA, Tim Brown of Harford, Conn, Donald Brown and wife, Bernice of Columbia and Terrill Harris and wife, Ernestine of Rock Hill, SC; sister, Linda Osborne of Mauldin, Mass; as well as ahost of grandchildren, nieces and nephews, who will miss him dearly.He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, Christine Brown and sons, Herbert and Gary Brown. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Peter’s Baptist Church, Elder Brother Ministry, 7910 Broad River Road, Irmo, SC 29063
