John Lloyd Berg

June 28, 1957 — August 23, 2017

Lexington – John Lloyd Berg II,60 of Lexington, SC passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 after a courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma Cancer for the past 12 years.He was a son of John L. Berg and Elizabeth B. Berg. John was a member of Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He graduated from Irmo High School in 1975, attended the University of South Carolina and worked in the grocery store management division until he developed his cancer.He was an avid Gamecock fan and supporter. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his finance, Jo Ann Smith; sister, Ellen McKenzie (Ken) of Columbia; two brothers, Greg (Margaret) of Westminster, CO and Glenn of Spartanburg, SC; Nine nieces and nephews; and two great nephews.Also, two uncles and one aunt.Also, numerous cousins. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 25th from 6:00 pm. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. with visitation to follow at Temples Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212. The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church, Reverend Peter Sousa, C.Ss.R., Pastor will officiate.Private Graveside Services will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society Food Bank, c/o Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church, 120 Marydale Lane, Columbia, SC 29210 or to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210. The family wishes to thank all the healthcare givers at Palmetto Health Tuomey; Palmetto Health Baptist; Lexington Medical Center and especially their Oncology Floor – all nurses, staff and doctors.
