LEXINGTON—Funeral services for Joe E. Brown, Jr., 90, of Lexington, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, August 25, 2017 at Chapel of Temples Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212 with the Minister Mel Futrell officiating.Burial will be private.Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 pm. prior to the service at the funeral home. Born in Detroit, MI on May 15, 1927, he was the son of the late Joe E. Brown, Sr. and Alta Scurlock Brown.He proudly served his country in the Navy during WWII.Mr. Brown was an active member of the St. Andrews Road Church of Christ since 1990. He was a graduate of Wayne State University, and had retired after over 30 years of service from B.A.S.F., where he was a technical service manager. Surviving in addition to his wife, Margrette L. Brown; children, Joe E. Brown III (Jennifer), Nancy B. Moore (Robert) and Barry S. Brown (Karen); grandchildren, Matthew, David and Jeremy Brown along with Justin and Joshua Moore; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Lillian Brown and Caroline Moore; brothers, Calvin and James Brown; sisters, Lois and Dolly Etheridge, Betty Silverstrand, Sue Simpson and Ethel Ridings. Those who have preceded his death, besides his parents, are brother, Bill Brown and grandson, Michael Brown.
