Jocelyn lived a life of sacrificial love and devotion to her Lord Jesus, to her husband, her children, and her whole extended family, and to everyone God brought into her life. She deeply loved and cared for Richard, her husband of 62 years, serving alongside him in life and ministry from their days at Gordon college until her home-going. She was known for her deep wisdom and faith in Christ, as well as for her humor and infectious joy, and her loving interactions with people. Jocelyn served in various ministry settings with her husband, first as a pastor’s wife— loving, teaching, and helping to start churches. She and Richard served later in life as missionaries, including caring for and supporting missionaries serving around the world. All are welcome to participate in a celebration of life service at Woodland Hills Community Church, 2626 Ashland Rd, Columbia, SC 29210 (https://discoverwoodlandhills.com) on Saturday, October 24th, 2020 at 10.30 AM. Immediately following the service, a time of informal fellowship will be held at the church. Those who prefer to give flowers could send them to 703 Fairway Lane, Columbia SC, 29210 no later than October 23. She is survived by her husband; her sons, Dave Peters (Brenda) of Columbia, Eric Peters (Ellen) of Chiang Mai, Thailand; her daughters, Lori Valvano (John) of Columbia and Lisa Goralnik of Columbia; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Chuck Peters (Amy), and by a grandson, Brad Peters (Joyce).
