The funeral service for JoAnn D. Funderburk, 86, of Irmo, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 18, 2021, at First Baptist Church of Irmo. Entombment will follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The Reverend Dr. Clark McCrary III will officiate. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Due to the Covid we are practicing Social Distancing and requiring masks at the service, per the request of the family. JoAnn was born in Providence, SC, to the late David Lawton Dantzler and Lurine Bull Dantzler. She passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2021. JoAnn grew up in the Providence Community, and she graduated from Spartanburg Methodist College, the Class of 1954. JoAnn Sang in the choir at First Baptist of Columbia and First Baptist of Irmo, where she was a member of Sojourners Sunday School Class and church sewers.She retired from the SC Department of Juvenile Justice after 26 years of devoted service. JoAnn loved Tole paint and sewing. JoAnn is survived by her sons, Clyde “Karl” Funderburk (Rebecca) and Furman “Kelly” Funderburk; sister Arminta Davis (Drew); grandchild, Jarred Funderburk. She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Furman Clyde Funderburk Jr. Memorials may be made to Babcock Center, 2725 Banny Jones Ave., West Columbia, SC 29170.
