Joan Campbell Underwood

The funeral service for Joan Campbell Underwood, 84, of Irmo, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 1, 2022, in the Chapel of Temples Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212.The Underwood Family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.Burial will follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens. The Reverend Jeff W. Childress, of Salem United Methodist Church, will officiate. Joan was born on August 8, 1937, in Alton, Illinois, and departed this earthly life on Tuesday, March 29, 2022.She was the daughter of the late Clyde Campbell and Pearl Cochran Campbell.Joan attained her 4-year Nursing Degree and taught nursing at the University of SC. She stepped aside, to raise her family then returned to work in the Mental Health Field.She was formerly a member of Riverland Hills Baptist Church where she sang in the Choir and is presently a member of Salem United Methodist Church.She devoted her life to God and the service of others.Mrs. Underwood will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Survivors include her devoted daughter, Mary-Ann Belcher; grandsons, Joshua David, and Steven W. Belcher.She was preceded in death by her late parents and her late husband, James L. Underwood.
