Jimmy Roger Goodyear was born in Marion, SC, on October 16, 1939, to Eunice Ginny Floyd and Rembert L. Goodyear. He went to be with his Lord on December 3, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Elizabeth (Beth) H. Goodyear; her four children, Elizabeth Leigh “Jeanie” (Clifford) Newell of Columbia, Eugene M. “Butch” (Sherri) Broome, Jr. of Richmond Hill, Georgia, Donna B. (Edward) Bailey of Lexington and Heather Broome Crater of Columbia; his two children, Jimmy R. Goodyear, Jr. of North Carolina and Claudia Goodyear; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eunice and Rembert Goodyear; three brothers, Frank, Carroll and Cecil Goodyear; three sisters, Dorothy McCubbin, Sylvia Greenhill, and Brenda Sue Goodyear; and his son, Christopher Goodyear. After graduating from high school, he joined the SC Army National Guard and after 31 years of service, he retired as a Master Sargeant. He was an active member in the Gideons and Riverland Hills Baptist Church until his health prevented him from doing so. His passion was singing with a melodious voice that could melt a frozen heart. Jim was greatly loved by all and will be missed, particularly by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We would like to give a special thank you to everyone at the C.M. Tucker, Jr. Nursing Care Center, Stone Pavilion who lovingly supported and cared for Jim during his last months there. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to any Dementia/Alzheimer’s foundation of your choice.
