The Memorial Service for Jerry Robert “Bobby” Heffner, 72, of West Columbia, will be held on Monday, August 1, 2022, at 2:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Temples Halloran Funeral Home. The Reverend Bunk Heffner of Christian Life Church will officiate. The Heffner family will receive friends from 1:00-2:30 p.m. prior to the service. Born on March 25, 1950, Bobby was the son of Jeanette Heffner Duska and the late Vance A Heffner. Bobby attended Dreher High School and was selected for Who’s Who in America’s Junior Colleges while at Midlands Tech. He transferred to the University of South Carolina. Bobby was a Gamecocks fan his entire life. He loved sports and once hit four home runs in one game. Bobby coached youth sports in the Cayce-West Columbia area for about 30 years, winning championships in football, baseball, basketball, and soccer. He influenced hundreds of young athletes. Bobby was a successful salesman and business owner and was once a sports correspondent for The State Newspaper. Bobby was a proud member of the Beachcombers Shriners Unit and the Springdale Masonic Lodge 412, the Capital City Shag Club, and the Jaycees. Above all, Bobby loved his family and would do anything for his children. Survivors include his mother, Jeanette Heffner Duska; daughter, Tara Heffner; sons, Todd, Shay, and Bunk Heffner (Alyssa); brothers, Ernie Heffner and Teddy Heffner; seven grandchildren, Makaila, Elise, Savanna, Bella, Kade, Everett, and Luca; girlfriend, Sandra Pressley. He was preceded in death by his wife, Deborah Aull Heffner.
