Jens Marcus Hansen, Jr., 97, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2018 at Palmetto Health Richland.A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, February 22 in the chapel at Temples-Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia.The family will receive friends prior to the service. Jens was born in Deer Lodge, MT on August 2, 1920 to the late Lena and Jens Hansen, Sr.He was stationed at Columbia Army Airbase during World War II and it was in Columbia that he met and married Georgie, with whom he spent 72 wonderful years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be missed by everyone who knew him. Jens is survived by his wife, Georgie Kimball Hansen, daughters, Debra Hansen Sutherland (James) and Kim Hansen; grandchildren, Aaron McGough (Dena), Teri McGough Copas (Jeff) and Shanell Sutherland Lombardo (Corey); great-grandchildren, Diana Copas, Breanna Copas, Preston McGough, Alexander McGough, Kayde McGough, and Parker Lombardo and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and daughter, Helen Hansen McGough.
