Jean S. Smith

Columbia—A private Crypt Side service will be held for Jean S. Smith, 90, of Columbia on Wednesday, September 23, 2020.Mrs. Smith passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2020. Jean was born in Hackensack, NJ on April 6, 1930, to the late Pasquale Sciacca and Frances Carretello Sciacca.She lived in Emerson, NJ before moving to Columbia, SC in 1972.Jean worked at Irmo High School from 1986 - 2004, in the school's Cafeteria, for 17 years until her retirement. She also enjoyed crocheting, especially doilies, scarves and afghans. Survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen S. Grant (Gary); son and daughter-in-law, George R. Smith (Christine); 3 grandchildren, Laura L. Grant, Her special Angel, Bailey A. Smith, and Tyler C. Smith; 2 nieces, Linda Zavesky (Jim) and Barbara Ricca (Carl) and a nephew, Mario R. Gebbia (Debbie), 5 great-nieces and 3 great-great nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Sisters, Sarah Muzzicato, Emma Sciacca, Sadie Sciacca, Theresa Smith, Rose Verdi, and Josephine Gebbia, and one brother, Frank Sciacca. A special Thank you to Generations in Chapin for her loving care. Also, to MSA, Briana Deans, and Amanda for their love and support during this process!
