Norma Jean Knight

Norma Jean Shadinger Knight, 90, of Columbia, passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024. She was born in Carnegie, Oklahoma, on January 5, 1934. She was the daughter of Harry Harvey Shadinger and Helen Mary Bryan Shadinger. Norma grew up in California. After marrying Billy Thomas Knight, she lived in several states before eventually settling in Columbia. She was the office manager for over 30 years with Walter Hunter Construction Company. Norma loved her garden and her flowers, and she loved to paint. But, above all, she loved her grandchildren. Norma is survived by her daughter, Janelle “Suzy” K. Sweeney, of Columbia; her sons, Billy Thomas “Tommy” Knight, Jr. (Rachel), of Elgin, and Robert “Bobby” Knight (Tammy) of Chapin; and her grandchildren, Patrick Knight, Elizabeth Knight, Caroline Knight, Carrady Marbury (Kevin), and Trevin Childers (Taylor); and her great-grandchild, Georgia Childers. She is also survived by her brothers, Alan Shadinger and Roger Shadinger. Norma was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Billy Thomas Knight. Services for Norma will be private.
